Christmas party of Lira Group Dance Company

Dear friends, as you already know, the Christmas party of Lira Group Dance Company will take place on Thursday, December 20th at 7 pm. The Christmas tree “Lira” is waiting for your toys. Here in brief the agenda:
7:00 – 7:30 pm decoration of the Christmas tree “Lira”, every one of you will hang his toy onto the Christmas tree and according to an Old Bulgarian Custom the eldest will place instead of a toy the Christmas star on top of the tree. At 7:30 pm the lights will go on.
7:30 – 8 pm official part – every group will dance the learned for the past 6 months: |

Bulgarian children sing and dance at the Belgrade Fair

On 19 December the song group ‘Pastrenets Junior’ leave for a tour in Serbia together with ‘Severnyatsi’ dance ensemble. The formation will take part in the festival, running along with the Belgrade fair, which will be opened by the mayor of the Serbian capital. Their performance at the grand opening concert will be shown on Serbia’s National TV in live. Along with the concerts in the capital the folklore group from Montana will perform at Smolyanats, Pozharevats and Panchevo. |

‘Zornitsa’ Vocal Folklore Group – 10 Years on Stage

On 16 December ‘Zornitsa’ vocal folklore group will celebrate its 10th anniversary. The group’s foundation in 1997 was inspired by Emil Genov, the artistic director of students’ folklore ensemble ‘Zornitsa’. Since than the group has started its own way. |

'Divna’ to Launch Their First Album

'Divna' Vocal Formation is preparing their first album of their own. This Bulgarian folklore formation was found in 2005 and became popular by the means of their numerous concerts and appearings on TV. They also contributed to the show at the Batenberg square in Sofia ‘1000 hours to entering the EU’. |

“Mladejta Tvori” 2007 annual children’s folkdance contest

The annual folkdance contest for children’s amateur troupes for theatre and music and dance, took place on 28 November 2007. The contest was organized by the Permanent commission for children, youth, sports and tourism to Sofia municipality council. 15 ensembles, representing different regions of the capital Sofia, subscribed for participation, but 12 competed for the awards: |

5th Children’s National Folklore Competition-Concert
Ten children’s folklore ensembles from Sofia and the country will take part in the fifth children’s national folklore competition-concert “Bulgarian Folklore 2007”, which will take place on 1 December 2007 (Saturday) from 5 pm in the Hall of UACG (University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy) in Sofia. |

Igranka - Bulgarian Folkdance Group in Toronto

Igranka is a group for Bulgarian folk dances from all six ethnographic regions of Bulgaria. It was launched in Nov. 2004 as a school for authentic folkdances, but later a representative dance group spawned off as well.
The name translates as ‘Folkdance party’. |

Day of Bulgaria in the Netherlands

The Hague was the venue of the second edition of the Day of Bulgaria in the Kingdom of the Netherlands organized this year under the motto Bulgaria-enchanting in all seasons”. The second edition of the event enjoyed a greater amount of interest than the inaugural one probably due to the fact that Bulgaria is already a EU member. The festival is a promotion campaign for Bulgaria’s rich cultural and historical heritage and opportunities for tourism. |
